FT-IR (Fourier Transform InfRared)

FT-IR Process Gas Analyzer (GASMET DX 4000) is manufactured and supplied by Temet Instrument Company of Helsinki, Finland. It is a continuous monitoring device to measure vapor phase concentrations of both Organic and Inorganic compounds. The sample does not have to be conditioned since it is heated to 180 degree centigrade prior to analyzing the hot, wet, corrosive gas streams. Concentration of several different compounds are measured and stored in seconds at a time.

GASMET has setup a library of hundreds of compounds at low concentration which stored in the hard drive of the instrument and is used to determine the relative strength of the unknown gases with respect compounds being measured. In additions to several Organic and Inorganic compounds, it also measures NO, NO₂, N₂O, SO₂, NH₃, HCl, HF, CH₄, CO, CO₂, and H₂O.

Because calibration is based on a physical constant, the absorption coefficient of a gas or vapor at a known temperature and pressure, calibrations are not only constant over many years but can also be transferred between analyzers with high degree of accuracy.
